| Itinerary – The dates

The dates : 7 to 21 of March 2009, 4th edition, 





  • 14th of June, opening of registration (preferential entry fee)
  • September : preparation of the itinerary
  • January 31th : End of registration
  • 5-6 March : Technical checks of vehicle in Paris area
  • 7 March : Start at the Eiffel Tower
  • 21 march : last stage and arrival at the Pink Lake in Dakar, Prize giving ceremony
  • 22 march : loading of vehicle at the harbour of Dakar

 

6500km in total crossing 5 countries, France, Spain, Morocco, Mauritania and Senegal
Finish at the Lac Rose in Dakar where the story of the Dakar rally is written for 30 years.

In Africa, 500km a day, between 200 and 400km off road.
All type of terrains available in Africa, rolling and fast tracks, mountains, twisty and technical parts, oasis crossing, sandy tracks, along the ocean and ocean of dunes. Every day something new to discover at your rhythm.
Navigation with a road book and GPS (choice free)

An itinerary for the race with the categories « classic » and « open » and one to
discover the countries most of the time on tarmac roads with the category “Bivouac-Bivouac”

 Each stage will be different in terms of distance, landscape and difficulty. Particular care will be given to the choice of the special stages so as to be able to satisfy the best pilots as well as true novices. 
For few stages, a shorter or easier road book will be available for less experienced pilots.
 
 Number of kilometres daily: 500km of which 200 to 400km of all-terrain, including for ranking.

 One or two special stages each day combining regularity, piloting and navigation for the motorcycle and for cars .
For the teams, a relay of pilot will be also possible between two stages. Places will be announced during the daily briefings.

 Each team can decide on its strategy and or pilots for the following day according to the level of technical difficulty and navigation that will be announced at each daily briefing.
